Blackburn fans have once again been raving over the performance of Harvey Elliott despite losing to Watford on Wednesday.
Rovers slipped to a fifth Championship defeat on the bounce against the Hornets to crank up the pressure on manager Tony Mowbray – with the teenager’s goalscoring display a rare positive on another sour night Ewood Park.
Joao Pedro and Ismaila Sarr saw the promotion-hopefuls race into a two-goal lead in Lancashire, although the on-loan Liverpool attacker reduced the deficit just before half-time with an empathic right-footed finish past Daniel Bachmann.
Unfortunately for Elliott, Blackburn weren’t able to build off that lifeline and allowed Ken Sema to add Watford’s third which meant Ben Brereton’s late strike was little more than a consolation.
The defeat all but ended Blackburn’s faint top-six hopes – with Mowbray’s side now 10 points off sixth-place Cardiff City with just 15 matches remaining.
But here, we’ve been focussing on Elliott, whose now scored five times and registered nine assists in 26 appearances for the Ewood Park outfit since making the season-long move from the Reds.
Whilst the Blackburn faithful have been left angry with the general performance of their side, they were delighted with Elliott’s contribution.
Here’s how they reacted on Twitter:
