Manchester United players past and present pay respect to Diego Maradona

Diego Maradona may not have played for Manchester United. However, it cannot be denied that he is one of the best players to ever grace the game.

The Argentine legend passed away yesterday at the age of 60 due to a heart attack. The news came as a shock to the country and the footballing world in general.

United went on to pay their respects by admitting that the game has lost one of it’s biggest names.

They were soon joined by players, both present and past, who looked up to the Argentine with admiration.

The likes of Bobby Robson, Rio Ferdinand, Antonio Valencia and Ruud van Nistelrooy all posted on Twitter remembering Maradona.

Current stars such as Marcus Rashford, Diogo Dalot, Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata also conveyed their wishes.

Maradona was a part of the Barcelona squad that played us in the cup winners cup quarter-finals in 1983/84. Trailing 2-0 from the first leg, skipper Bobby Robson led from the front as we overturned the result by scoring three at the Theatre of Dreams. (h/t MEN)

Maradona was a true legend of the game who brought much glory to Argentina and also Napoli. He will always be remembered as one of the best to ever take the field.
