…his move to Eintracht Frankfurt: “A lot of factors played a role in the switch – the club, the passionate fans, Deutsche Bank Park, the Bundesliga and the talks with the people in charge, Markus Krösche and Oliver Glasner. It was a great overall package. The first training session went very, very well. The conditions were great – nice weather, the training ground was good and the fans were there. I’m very happy and am now looking forward to making Frankfurt the focal point in my life.”

…the huge interest in him: “I see it as a show of appreciation. That’s a positive thing, but for me the focus is on the club and our competitions. What’s happened is all well and good, but the focus is on the here and now.”

…his perception of Eintracht: “Eintracht Frankfurt is not only successful in the Europa League. The club has built a positive image in recent years, winning the DFB Cup and now the Europa League. The fact that Eintracht Frankfurt has won a European trophy is very impressive and was great to follow. You really felt the excitement and the away games were special. There were some magnificent, sensational performances.”

…his strengths and objectives: “I see my strengths in the final third. I want to be a piece of the puzzle for the team, find gaps and make an impact on the game. At the end of the day, it’s all about performing and winning games as a team. Athletically, the most important thing for me is to be healthy and to play and perform at 100 per cent of my ability. I also want to be a role model for the young players and be there for them with advice and support. I’m always ready to help them. Eintracht play as a team, to the last whistle and develop an emotional bond with the fans that produces special performances on a consistent basis. I now want to play my part in this and show the same spirit.”

…playing in the Champions League: “I’ve played in Europe in the last few seasons and have a huge appetite for the Champions League. I’m looking forward to the opponents, the games and playing every three or four days. I want to push on in the competition.”
