Slaven Bilic will be preparing for his first transfer window in charge at Watford, with January set to provide the 54-year-old with an opportunity to try and bridge the gap to where they are to the top two positions.

It remains to be seen how busy of a month it will be for the Hornets, with it being likely that Bilic will have some funds to spend.

The Hertfordshire club sit fourth in the second tier standings and are five points shy of Sheffield United in second place as things stand.

Sharing his thoughts on the upcoming January transfer window and how he expects it to play out at Watford, Pete O’Rourke told Football League World: “Yeah, I’m sure there will be some activity at Watford. There always is at Watford let’s be honest.

“There’s always players in and out of Watford over the last few years, and I don’t expect that change too much in the January transfer window.

“And obviously now they have Slaven Bilic who’s come in midway through the season, he’ll be looking for some funds to spend in January, maybe improve the squad and bring in his own players as he’s working with players that he hasn’t signed.

“So I’m sure he’ll be looking to try and improve the squad. He’s had time now to assess the squad since he replaced Rob Edwards.”

As O’Rourke alludes to, this January will be the first time that Bilic will be able to bring in players he thinks will be able to advance the football club.

This will be a great opportunity for the Hornets to add further depth and the competition needed to ensure they are battling for promotion as the rest of the campaign goes on.

There is a high level of expectation at Watford, meaning that Bilic should be backed in the upcoming transfer window.

With the Championship as close and competitive as it is at the moment, the January transfer window is massive for a number of clubs including Watford.
