In 2016, Liverpool signed Sadio Mane from Southampton for a transfer fee of €41.20 million.
Since then, Mane has scored 93 goals and registered 41 assists in 209 appearances for Liverpool.
Mane has also won the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup and Premier League title with Liverpool.
The aforementioned statistics and achievements highlight that Mane has been a star for the Reds.
However, the form of the Senegal international has not been great for Liverpool this season. Mane has only scored 12 goals and registered seven assists in 39 appearances.
With that being the case, former Red Stephen Warnock believes that Mane should be dropped from Liverpool’s starting XI.
ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT
We are inclined to agree with Warnock. There needs to be consequences if you are not performing.
The reality is, Mane is well off the pace this season. A rest might do him some good. Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is not doing Mane any favours by keeping him in the side.
If Mane stays in the side and keeps on playing the way he is, it would be fair to assume that his confidence will continue to drop.
