Former Real Madrid manager José Mourinho has on Saturday night revealed his delight for a headline member of the club’s defensive ranks.

As much, of course, comes fresh off another special night for Real on the continent.

Carlo Ancelotti’s troops made the trip to Wembley Stadium a short time ago, for a Champions League final showdown with Borussia Dortmund.

When all was said and done, Los Blancos emerged on the right side of a 2-0 scoreline, owing to goals on the part of Dani Carvajal, and Vinícius Jr.

Post-match, much of the focus has understandably been on another of Real Madrid’s leading stars, in Toni Kroos.

This comes with tonight’s outing have marked his very last not only in the colours of Los Merengues, but in club football as a whole.

On the back of the full-time whistle in London, though, it was another Blancos veteran whom the aforementioned José Mourinho was most eager to express his delight for.

The player in question? Nacho.

Defender Nacho captained Real to victory on Saturday, in what could yet prove to be his final appearance for the club, too.

Speaking as part of his punditry role for TNT Sports, Mourinho, who afforded the now-34-year-old his senior debut during his own stint in Spain’s capital, therefore went on to explain:

“I am so proud of Nacho. I gave him his debut when I coached Real Madrid. Amazing feeling for me but he deserves everything. He loves this club.”
