Former Aston Villa forward Gabby Agbonlahor has given his opinion on reported Liverpool target and West Ham United winger Jarrod Bowen.

Agbonlahor said that he does like Bowen as a player. However, Agbonlahor has implied that Liverpool should not attempt to sign Bowen this summer.

Agbonlahor does not believe that Bowen is ready to play for a huge club like Liverpool.

Agbonlahor told Football Insider the following: “I do like him [Bowen] as a player but that’s a big step up with big expectations.

“That Anfield crowd is a big expectation, fighting with [Mohamed] Salah and [Sadio] Mane for a place would be really hard as well.

“I don’t see that happening, to be honest. West Ham really like him, so they’re going to expect a lot of money for him which Liverpool won’t pay for a player of his talent.

“He’s a great player but I’m not sure he’s got that level for Liverpool.”

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

There is no denying that there is a lot of pressure playing for a huge club like Liverpool. However, we can’t sit here today and state that Bowen would not be able to deal with the pressure of playing for the Reds.

Until you try something, you just never know how you will go. All we will say is that Bowen was good for West Ham United last season.

The 24-year-old also averaged a WhoScored player rating of 6.75 across the 2020-21 Premier League campaign.

Bowen is young and talented. Therefore, if the club signed Bowen, we would welcome him to Anfield.
