Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has been speaking about his first season at Chelsea and admitted it’s been a learning curve for him.

The Blues signed the 26-year-old from Leicester last summer for £30m and he followed Enzo Maresca in making the switch from the King Power Stadium.

It’s been a difficult season for the midfielder, who’s made 24 appearances in all competitions, but he’s started just two Premier League games, although Joe Cole thinks he’s much better than people give him credit for.

It was always going to be a big step up for Dewsbury-Hall and he’s had to be patient for his chances, which have mainly come in the Conference League where he’s scored three goals in eight appearances.

He was linked with a move away in January, but the Englishman has insisted he’s determined to be a success at Stamford Bridge.

There’s a strong chance Dewsbury-Hall will start against Legia Warsaw in the Conference League quarter final on Thursday night, and speaking ahead of the game he admitted this season’s been a learning curve.

“It’s been a learning curve,” he told his pre-match press conference.

“I’ve had to adapt and grow as a person and a player, but I expected that. I knew I’d have challenges and successes but, all in all, it’s a season where I’ve learned a great deal.

“Whenever I’m called upon, I’m ready. I’ve been working hard behind the scenes to ensure that’s the case.”

Dewsbury-Hall also admitted he’s been frustrated by a lack of action:

“I want to play every game, that’s the way I am, but it’s just something I’ve had to deal with.

“I didn’t expect to come in and play every game, because I’m not stupid.

“I’ve had to try and use that frustration and turn it into a positive, because otherwise it just wouldn’t have been a very enjoyable time for me. But that’s the life of a footballer.”
