Olympique de Marseille’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang said that he will reunite with former Arsenal teammate Alexandre Lacazette after OM’s 3-0 victory over Olympique Lyonnais in Wednesday’s Choc des Olympiques.

Aubameyang has hit form at just the right time. The Gabonese forward has five goals in his last three games in all competitions and with OM now on a three-game winning streak, Gennaro Gattuso’s side are, for the first time this season, moving in the right direction.

Whilst things are improving for Aubameyang individually, and for Les Phocéens collectively, the same cannot be said of Lacazette or Lyon. Les Gones are glued to the bottom of Ligue 1, whilst after a prolific return to Lyon last season, Lacazette has just three goals in this current campaign.

With his former Arsenal teammate and friend, Lacazette, going through a tough spell, Aubameyang told Prime Video Sport that he would go and meet the OL forward post-match. “I haven’t had the time to meet him yet. He quickly returned to the dressing room. I imagine it isn’t easy. I’ll definitely go and see him because I know that in moments like this, it really isn’t easy. He is a great guy with a great mentality and I hope to see him back to his best as soon as possible,” said the OM forward. New-born rivalries, it seems, will temporarily be set aside.
