Luis Enrique relit the debate in France over who his starting goalkeeper should be in Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League tie tomorrow evening when he picked Matvei Safanov (25) over Gianluigi Donnarumma (25) in Saturday’s 1-0 victory against RC Lens.

There has been some question over the future of Donnarumma as PSG’s starting goalkeeper. The Italian international has come under increasing scrutiny for his poor performances in the Champions League, which once again came to a head in the aftermath of PSG’s 2-0 loss to Arsenal.

Donnarumma was at fault for both of Arsenal’s goals, albeit Luis Enrique was quick to defend him in press conferences following the game, and instead suggested that the errors came before the ball reached the goalkeeper.

Luis Enrique dismisses the debate

Luis Enrique was asked about who he would pick to start in tomorrow’s tie against Atlético de Madrid, to which the manager stated, “I will decide tomorrow after a good cappuccino who will be able to play.” He continued by highlighting that it will not be a binary choice, “I will decide among the three goalkeepers. If one is sick with fever, what do we do?”

Arnau Tenas (23) is part of the three-man goalkeeping rotation, although the former FC Barcelona player has yet to make an appearance either domestically or in Europe.
