Barcelona star İlkay Gündoğan has on Thursday moved to lavish the ultimate praise on a fellow member of the Blaugrana’s ranks.

The player in question? Lamine Yamal.

Wide-man Lamine, for his part, is of course in the thick of one of the most memorable explosions onto the world stage of football in recent memory.

At just 16, the gifted winger is already an undisputed starter for one of Europe’s biggest clubs in Barcelona.

Not only that, but he has established himself as a full international, too, considered first-choice on the right flank by Spanish national team head coach Luis de la Fuente.

Only set to get better over the years to come, it is therefore safe to say that Lamine, as things stand, has the world very much at his feet.

Speaking to Mundo Deportivo ahead of locking horns with his young teammate at Euro 2024 on Friday night, Lamine’s name was therefore put to the aforementioned İlkay Gündoğan.

And the German international made use of the opportunity to assure that:

“Lamine Yamal is arguably the most talented young player in the world at the moment.”

Gündoğan continued:

“He’s a fantastic player at 16. He could be 20 or 21 and he’d still be the same.”
