Former Spain captain Iker Casillas, who won two European Championships and the World Cup with La Roja, has spoken after the country’s 2-0 defeat to Scotland on Tuesday night.

Casillas discussed both matches on Twitter and reacted to the criticism that is already coming in the new Luis de La Fuente era, which kicked off with matches against Norway and Scotland.

La Roja beat Norway 3-0 with goals from Dani Olmo and a brace from Joselu, who scored twice on his debut.

At Hampden Park, however, Spain lost 2-0 to Scotland with two goals from midfielder Scott McTominay.

Casillas was keen to tone down the criticism of the team as well as the euphoria after the first win. “On Saturday, Spain were the best. We were going to win our fourth European Championship. Nobody remembered Luis Enrique. Now the coach is a joke. Spain are a disaster. They won’t qualify for the Euros. And we’ve just started…”, wrote the former goalkeeper on Twitter.
