According to Fabrizio Romano, Brazilian defender Igor Julio is completing his medical tests to become a new Brighton player. He will sign a four year contract, lasting until June 2027, as was agreed last week.
The final fee is reported to be €17m fixed, with €3m add ons, as well as having a sell on clause for Fiorentina included.
The 25-year-old made 42 appearances for Fiorentina in the 2022/23 campaign, keeping 13 clean sheets in all competitions. He was a part of Fiorentina’s successful Conference League run, where they made it to the final, losing 2-1 to West Ham.
With Fiorentina just missing out on European football next season, after finishing 8th in Serie A, Igor will play Europa League football for Brighton instead, who finished 6th in the Premier League.
Igor is a left footed central defender, and will replace Levi Colwill who was on loan with Brighton last season. Brighton were interested in bringing Colwill on a permanent, however Chelsea have insisted he is not for sale.
