Former Portsmouth midfielder David Norris has claimed that Harry Toffolo wouldn’t be willing to drop down to Sky Bet League One, during an exclusive interview with Football League World.

The attacking Huddersfield Town full back has been linked with a move to join Pompey recently and is said to be on Danny Cowley’s long list of transfer targets this summer.

Of course, the two men know each other very well, with Cowley having first managed Toffolo at Lincoln City before then signing during his time in charge of the Terriers.

They could well link up for a third time in recent seasons this summer, with the South Coast club seemingly keen on what would be a very ambitious move for the third tier outfit to take on given their current financial state.

However, when speaking recently to FLW, Norris was quick to suggest that the player himself wouldn’t be open to dropping back down the divisions after playing regularly in the Championship for Huddersfield last term:

“I’d be surprised. I can’t see it happening.

“I think he’s improved a lot as a player, you know recently he was one of Huddersfield’s better players in the season just gone.

“So from what I’ve heard, it’s not a goer, I’d be very surprised on that one.

“He’s just starting to find his feet a little bit in the Championship and I think he would want to give it a bit more of a go there before he looks to move on to another club.”

Toffolo is currently under contract with Huddersfield until the summer of 2022, meaning that the upcoming 2021/22 campaign could be his last season with the club if they choose not to offer him an improved deal.

Since joining the second tier outfit in January of last year, the left back has made just north of 50 appearances for the Terriers and has become a feature in Carlos Corberan’s side.
