Alan Hutton has dropped a hint that Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor will be ready to play against Ross County on Wednesday after speaking to his former teammate.
In an exclusive interview with Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the former Rangers and Scotland full-back revealed that he had spoke to the 37-year-old in recent days and suggested there were no signs he was unable to turn out for Steven Gerrard.
Assistant manager Gary McAllister confirmed in Tuesday’s press conference that the shot-stopper was a doubt for Wednesday’s game against Ross County after landing awkwardly in the club’s win over Motherwell on Sunday.
However, Hutton suggests that the veteran keeper will be fine to turn out for the Light Blues after talking to the stopper in recent days.
Hutton told Football Insider: “I think he’ll play. After speaking to him in the last few days he seems fine, to me he never mentioned anything so I think he’ll be alright.
“He’s an integral part of the Rangers team over the last couple of seasons, he’s one of the first ones I’d be putting on the team sheet. Fit, he plays, always.”
McGregor has been a mainstay for the Gers since returning to Ibrox in the summer of 2018, with 52 appearances across all competitions last season.
He has continued to feature regularly between the sticks during the current campaign, sitting out just one Premiership game and playing a total of 19 times in the league and cups.
In other Rangers news, Jackie McNamara claims that one Gers star is a low-risk signing for Premier League sides as English clubs plot a potential transfer raid.
