AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has revealed that Thiago Silva is the most complete defender he has ever seen, while he admitted to changing his way of playing.

The Swede is proving to still be decisive at the age of 40 and he will be hoping to make a mark both tomorrow night against Liverpool in the Champions League but also for the rest of the season and beyond, with the aim of bringing some silverware back to the club.

Ibrahimovic spoke during an interview with Corriere TV about a number of things starting with his thoughts on the way that he plays football, with his words relayed by MilanNews.

“First of all, I do what the coach asks of me. I adapt to everything to help the team. Before I was more active, now I choose what I can do to be useful to the team,” he said.

Ibra was also asked about the strongest defenders that he has faced in his career, admitting that a decade ago a lot of them got away with more knowing that VAR could not intervene.

“There are many, if one played in Italy he played against many strong defenders. Ten years the defenders were worse, there was not even the VAR. If I have to name names I say Paolo Maldini, Nesta , Stam, Chiellini, Thiago Silva…”

He and Thiago Silva were team-mates back in the 2010-11 season when the Rossoneri last won the Scudetto, forming the backbone of Max Allegri’s side, and both ended up continuing together at Paris Saint-Germain after they were sold.

“When I was playing with him, I said that I have an Ibrahimovic in defence. He was the most complete defender, he knew how to do everything. Then we also went to Paris together, we won together. He is a top defender.”
