Ibrahim Diabaté on AJ Auxerre's radar
Ibrahim Diabaté, the Ivorian striker currently playing for GAIS Göteborg in Sweden, has emerged as one of the top targets closely tracked by AJ Auxerre. The Ligue 1 side is actively working the transfer market and has identified the 25-year-old as a potential new signing.
In their quest for attacking reinforcements this season, Auxerre's scouts are casting a wide net abroad. It is in Sweden where Ibrahim Diabaté's name has caught their eye. After a strong start to the season with GAIS, the Ivorian forward has become one of the most impactful players on his team, thanks to his goal-scoring instinct, mobility, and ability to physically trouble opposing defenses.
Born in Abidjan, Ibrahim Diabaté stands 1.85 meters tall and boasts a well-rounded profile. Capable of playing as a lone striker or in a supporting role, he excels at making runs in behind, holding up play, and delivering in the final third. This attacking versatility is particularly appealing to Auxerre’s coaching staff, who are seeking a player to energize an attack still searching for consistency.
Arriving on a free transfer at GAIS from Västeräs in January 2025, Ibrahim Diabaté has scored 16 goals and provided three assists in 23 matches across all competitions. He has played a key role in the club’s impressive form, with GAIS newly promoted this year but already well established in the top half of the table. His attacking output, combined with significant room for growth, is now attracting attention beyond Scandinavian borders.
According to well-placed sources, several European clubs, particularly in Belgium and Switzerland, have also expressed interest in Ibrahim Diabaté. However, Auxerre appears to be among the most persistent suitors in recent weeks. The player is currently under contract with GAIS until December 2025. While the Swedish club is not looking to let their striker go on the cheap, they could be open to negotiations if a satisfactory offer is made. For his part, Diabaté is reportedly open to taking the next step in his career and testing himself in a more competitive league.
