Bolton Wanderers manager Ian Evatt has admitted that the club are now working hard to seal deals after identifying a group of players that he is hoping to sign.

The Trotters would have been hoping to get back to winning ways in League One last night following three defeats on the bounce in this division.

However, Bolton were unable to deliver the goods in-front of their supporters as they produced an underwhelming display in their meeting with Wycombe.

The Chairboys opened the scoring in the 35th minute as Brandon Hanlan fired past Trotters goalkeeper Joel Dixon.

Following the break, Wycombe extended their advantage via a stunning strike from defender Jack Grimmer.

Bolton were unable to deliver a response to this goal as their opponents sealed all three points.

As a result of this defeat, the Trotters slipped to 18th in the third-tier standings.

After the clash, Evatt shared an update on Bolton’s transfer plans for the remainder of the January window.

Speaking to the Manchester Evening News, the Bolton boss said: “We know who we want.

“We’re just waiting for people to become available.

The Verdict

Whilst Bolton have already managed to bolster their squad by securing the services of Dion Charles, Marlon Fossey and Aaron Morley in the current transfer window, it is hardly a surprise that Evatt is still looking to draft in some more fresh faces.

Following a relatively encouraging start to the 2021/22 campaign, the Trotters have recently experienced a worrying dip in form and are now only three points clear of the relegation zone.

In order to avoid the possibility of being dragged into a fight for survival by the likes of Morecambe, Gillingham and Crewe Alexandra, Bolton may need to add to their squad in the coming weeks.

Providing that he is able to nail his recruitment, Evatt could potentially guide his side to a relative amount of success in League One later this year.
