Bolton Wanderers manager Ian Evatt has admitted that he is still looking to strengthen his squad in one or two areas before the window closes tomorrow evening.

Wanderers are likely to prioritise a move for a centre-back as they recently parted ways with Will Aimson.

Aimson sealed a permanent switch to Exeter City last Friday after making 17 appearances for Bolton in all competitions this season.

Bolton have already signed five players this month.

Shola Shoretire and Dan Nlundulu both recently joined the club on temporary deals from Premier League sides.

Meanwhile, Cameron Jerome, Victor Adeboyejo and Randell Williams have all sealed permanent moves to Bolton.

Currently fifth in the League One standings, Bolton will be hoping to maintain their consistency over the course of the coming months as they aim to secure a place in the play-offs.

Having secured an impressive 2-1 victory over Charlton Athletic at The Valley last weekend, Wanderers will be looking to back up this display by picking up a positive result in their clash with Cheltenham Town this weekend.

Ahead of this fixture, Evatt has outlined the club’s plans for the remainder of the window.

Speaking to The Bolton News, Evatt said: “We need a little bit of work.

“What we have done so far has been really good.

“All the players we have sold, we have bought on free transfers, and I have said before that player trading is a big part of what we want to do.

“It is a big part of football for any club looking to progress.

“We have done that smartly, strategically, and we will continue to do that.

“I think we need one or two areas strengthened for squad position for than anything else.

“We will be actively looking over the next few days to complete that now.”

The Verdict

When you consider that Bolton are short of options at centre-back, it would not be at all surprising if they sign a new defender before the window shuts.

By securing the services of an individual who has a proven track-record of delivering the goods on a consistent basis at this level, Wanderers could potentially boost their chances of achieving a great deal of success in the coming months.

Bolton are unlikely to strengthen in the attacking area of the pitch due to the fact that they have already signed five players that fit this criteria.

With time running out to complete deals, Wanderers will need to move quickly when it comes to their pursuit of players.
