Lazio winger Jony joined La Liga side Osasuna over the recent summer transfer window on a one-year loan move. The agreement between Lazio and Osasuna for the Spanish attacker came with a €5 million purchase option, although it is unknown whether the latter has plans to trigger it.

Jony has had mixed feelings regarding his current loan stint with Osasuna and overall return to La Liga. For one, it has been frustrating as of late for Jony due to a notable muscle injury that sidelined him for multiple matches.

Jony went in-depth to the Spanish-based outlet Diario de Navarra (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) on his thoughts on the loan move.

I’m okay now, fortunately. I’ve been able to recover and I’ve been training with my teammates. But if we had to define my situation since I arrived at Osasuna, I would say that I felt frustration or despair. I’ve never had a muscle injury. No one else knows this except the medical staff and colleagues, but the first injury I had was in the adductor. It was the week we faced Sevilla. I played with an injured adductor. I had been injured against Atlético de Madrid but it was an area that allowed me to play. From that problem, everything started. Maybe that’s why I injured my hamstring at Camp Nou. The team was in a negative series, I tried to shorten the time to recover as soon as possible. I wanted to help in a difficult moment. Running so hard was not ideal.

As mentioned, the deal between Lazio and Osasuna for Jony includes a purchase option. If it were up to him, Jony would be open to staying put with Osasuna.

There is a voluntary purchase option. In principle, if they decide not to redeem me, I will return to Lazio. Right now it’s too early to talk about it, I haven’t been able to prove my worth, I’ll try to finish in the best way possible and at the end we’ll sit down and talk to see what intentions both clubs have. I would love to continue. I’m very comfortable with it. It’s familiar people, humble and simple. I’m like that, too. I feel comfortable in this environment. I won’t hide the fact that I’d like to continue. But, of course, it’s not something that’s solely up to me.

Jony has so far totaled for 18 appearances in all competitions this season.
