Blackburn Rovers have started the 24/25 Championship campaign in eye-catching form, with John Eustace’s side yet to taste defeat from their opening six league matches.

Three wins and three draws see the former Premier League Champions content with their early performances in the second tier, as a number of new signings bed themselves into the new surroundings.

The likes of Yuki Ohashi and Makhtar Gueye have offered promising showings during their early days as Rovers players, while Andi Weimann and Danny Batth have also contributed in the opening stretch of the season.

While the Ewood Park outfit have impressed in the early stages, there is always room for improvement within the squad, and Football League World’s Blackburn Rovers fan pundit Toby Wilding has earmarked one January transfer he would like to see happen once 2025 hits.

Blackburn Rovers tipped to return for Fulham star Martial Godo

Rovers were said to be chasing Fulham’s Martial Godo during the summer transfer window, although the two sides couldn’t come to an agreement over a loan deal for the 21-eyar-old.

Having spent the previous campaign with Wigan Athletic in League One, the tricky winger contributed towards eight goals for the Latics, and looked set to test himself at a higher level in the 24/25 campaign.

But with the Cottagers leaving their own transfer business until late in the window, Godo seemed to be the fall guy, as he was left with the London-side until January, with very little likelihood of him featuring in the Premier League.

As a result, Wilding expects a deal to get over the line in January, with both clubs likely to benefit from the temporary switch to the north west.

The Rovers fan said: “I would expect Blackburn to go back in for Martial Godo at Fulham, they made a push to sign him on loan on deadline day, and it sounded for a time like that deal was close to happening, although ultimately it didn’t.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if they did go back in for it, obviously Fulham got Reese Nelson on loan from Arsenal very late in the window, so it does feel like now they would have the depth out wide to allow Godo to go out on loan.

“When you look at the fact that Arnor Sigurdsson is struggling to get in the side at the minute, and Tyrhys Dolan is certainly playing more centrally so far this season, it does feel as though that bit of extra depth on the left wing that Godo would provide might be needed come the turn of the year.”

Martial Godo can aid Blackburn Rovers attacking output after impressive start

Rovers have started the season on fire in front of goal, with only Sunderland and Burnley (13) scoring more than the 12 Championship goals they have to their name in the current campaign.

With last season's Championship top scorer Sammie Smodzics leaving the club in the summer to join Ipswich Town, there were question marks over whether Eustace could rediscover that form in the final third in 24/25, but the early signs already look to be promising.

Ohashi [pictured] has hit the ground running with four goals in his first six games as a Rovers player, while Weimann has already proven his worth at Ewood Park with two strikes, including an incredible volley against rivals Burnley.

With Tyrhys Dolan being preferred in a more central role of late, there is still room for Godo to be utilised within this Blackburn squad, with his power and pace on the flanks likely to provide the perfect ammunition for the likes of Ohashi and Gueye to thrive off of.

While there may still be some regret that a summer move didn’t occur, Rovers have the chance to put that right in January, with Godo likely to be eager to prove himself after failing to seal a Craven Cottage departure last month.
