Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has shared his thoughts on Nicolas Jackson amid speculation over a move to Old Trafford.

Jackson has seen his future at Stamford Bridge questioned following the arrival of both Liam Delap and Joao Pedro this summer.

Pedro in particular has made an instant impact, and Jackson finds himself facing genuine competition for his place for the first time in his Chelsea career.

Rio Ferdinand shares thoughts on Nicolas Jackson

Jackson had a disappointing Club World Cup campaign, in which he got more red cards than goals, and was an unused substitute in the final.

The 24-year-old entered the competition as first choice striker, but arguably ended it as third choice, and speculation about his future has increased.

AC Milan like the Senegal international, but any deal is deemed too expensive for the Italian side, whilst there’s also interest from the Premier League.

Aston Villa and Manchester United have both been linked with Jackson, but as of yet no official offers have been made.

United have held talks with the representatives of Jackson, and Ferdinand has now shared his thoughts on the striker.

“You understand why his name will be on [Man United] list,” he said on Rio Presents.

“His stats in terms of players coming in for their third season at Chelsea match up to anybody, Drogba, all of them.

“He’s done really well. Actually, he’s a nuisance. I would argue he would be most centre-backs’ top 3 or 4 players they found hardest to play against last year. I don’t think it’s an easy day’s work for anybody.”

Chelsea reportedly view Jackson as a potential £100m striker, and it’s believed he wants to stay and fight for his place under Enzo Maresca.

Man United interested in Nkunku

Jackson isn’t the only Chelsea player United like, and they are also reportedly interested in Christopher Nkunku.

Nkunku is set to leave Chelsea this summer, and the Red Devils are said to have been quoted £35m to sign the 27-year-old.

The Blues are believed to have dropped their asking price to £43.3m, with Newcastle and Nottingham Forest also thought to be interested.
