Portsmouth boss Danny Cowley has told Hampshire Live that the club are looking to sign one or two more players before the window is out.

The South Coast club’s manager was speaking to the media in the wake of his side’s 0-0 draw away at AFC Wimbledon last night, with recent signings Tyler Walker and Hayden Carter both making their debuts.

Both players are on loan with Pompey until the end of the campaign, however the club’s business isn’t necessarily done there as they aim to add even more depth and quality to what is an already multi-talented squad at Fratton Park.

Speaking to reporters after the game, Cowley was quick to outline the plans that he has for transfers moving forwards as he stated the following:

“We might need one or two permanents, might we? I won’t take any more loans unless Lionel Messi becomes available, I might think about it.

“We would like one or two more if we could.”

Quiz: Can you name which club Portsmouth signed these 28 defenders from?

Walker and Carter both put in solid performances for their new side at the Cherry Red Records Stadium and will now be looking to kick on even further between now and the end of the campaign.

Meanwhile striker John Marquis completed a move to Lincoln City yesterday.

The Verdict

It will be interesting to0 see what areas Pompey look to strengthen in next as they have arguably already addressed the key positions which needed the most surgery.

They have certainly done well to offload some deadwood in the likes of Marquis, Ellis Harrison and Paul Downing and could well facilitate some more departures before the month is out.

Either way there is still some need for more additions, so Cowley will certainly be scouring the market with the recruitment team from now on.

There are certainly plenty of options out there, so it will be interesting to see who they turn to next.
