Since the start of the summer transfer window, FC Barcelona have been engaged in various operations. Initially, they made sure to close the operation concerning the arrival of Spanish goalkeeper Joan Garcia. Since then, however, Barcelona have struggled with certain targets.

In their search for a new left-winger, one that can ideally play in multiple positions, the club has had to face some dead ends. With Nico Williams slipping away and renewing his contract with Athletic Club, caution and skepticism began to grow within the club rapidly.

However, even as the club continues to search for a new winger and other players continue to look for minutes elsewhere, Barcelona already has a competitive squad assembled. While a new recruit might be a positive addition, there are others at the club willing to earn even more minutes for themselves.

One such player is Spanish forward Ferran Torres, who continues to see himself be linking to various clubs. Most recently, even Premier League side Aston Villa was reportedly interested in submitting an offer for the Barcelona forward.

However, according to SPORT, the player has no interest in any such offer and his objective for next season remains crystal clear. He wants to fight for a starting role next season at Barcelona and become a more visible protagonist.

Even recently during a football camp in Foios, the 25-year-old Spanish forward made it clear that his objective for next season is to stay at the club and fight for more opportunities:

“I only see myself at Barça. I will fight to earn my place in the team and become a guaranteed starter.”

The kind of mentality that the club appreciates

Fortunately for Barcelona, that is exactly the kind of mentality that is appreciated at the club. With even Marcus Rashford reportedly being interested in guaranteed minutes at the club if he was to join, this kind of dynamic concerning hungry players at the club is something that elevates everyone’s level.

Under Hansi Flick’s guidance, Torres wants to excel as much as possible. He is expected to return to the club soon on Sunday, and he wants to use this upcoming preseason tour to convince Flick that he deserves more minutes.
