Paris Saint-Germain star Ousmane Dembélé has tonight spoken out regarding the incessant jeers and whistles directed at him by fans of former club Barcelona.

As much comes with Dembélé fresh off playing a pivotal role in sending Barca packing from Europe for the season.

After making the trip to Catalunya’s capital for the 2nd leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie, PSG ultimately emerged on the right side of a 4-1 result, and 6-4 aggregate scoreline.

And wide-man Dembélé, for his part, notched a fine goal, as well as winning a spot-kick for the evening’s visitors along the way.

With such exploits having come in the midst of an absolutely raucous atmosphere, which saw the 26-year-old targeted with boos, jeers, whistles and more on each and every occasion he touched the ball, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of the reception afforded to him by Barcelona’s supporters was put to Dembélé himself post-match.

And the Frenchman, who departed Catalunya in controversial circumstances last summer, went on to provide a mature response:

“Barça is a great club,” he began. “I love Barcelona… And I understand the whistles. That’s life.”
