At this moment in time, FC Barcelona is dealing with a rather significant registration issue. Both of their summer signings are currently unregistered with La Liga and this particular issue is demanding the club’s entire attention. However, there is more to Barcelona than just these technical matters.

The primary goal each season is to achieve success on the field. That is where the coach, Hansi Flick, is expected to deliver results with the squad that is available at his disposal. However, with this recent registration issue, Flick’s squad depth is reduced even further.

With the likes of Lamine Yamal still having just returned to group training, the German coach needs all the support and extra firepower he can get. Moreover, with both Dani Olmo and Pau Victor unable to participate at the moment, things have become quite complicated for the coach.

That is why, in his most recent press conference ahead of the Copa del Rey clash against UD Barbastro, most of the questions were directed towards the registration issues at hand. As highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, however, Flick did well to provide information but also keep things to himself. Instead, he chose to let it be known that he has complete faith in the club to resolve the matter:

“I don’t want to talk much about this because it’s not my job. My job is to prepare the game. I was in contact with the president over Christmas, and we spoke again today. I trust the club has done its job, just as I’ve done mine.”

However, the Barcelona coach did confess that the situation was not something that he was necessarily happy with:

“It’s normal. To be honest, I wasn’t happy about the situation. The players aren’t satisfied either, but we have to accept that we’re professionals. I’m optimistic, but we’ll have to wait for the decision.”

As for his discussions with president Joan Laporta, Hansi Flick made it clear that those conversations would remain private:

“When I talk with the president, it’s private and will remain private.”

In regards to both Dani Olmo and Pau Victor, however, Flick stated that both players were also unhappy with the situation:

“The situation isn’t easy for them, as they hoth want to play here and are important to us.”

However, both Spaniards have continued to train normally and if they do end up getting registered in time for the game, Flick has confirmed that they are ready to participate:

“They’re ready to play.”

Now, it remains to be seen if Joan Laporta and his team can manage to get the players registered in time for the upcoming game. Irrespective of what happens there, however, Flick will be committed to ensuring that his team does their best against Barbastro no matter what.
