“I think it creates such a bad vibe” – Former Blue speaks out on penalty incident | OneFootball

Cesc Fabregas has claimed penalty incidents like against Everton on Monday night can create a “bad vibe” in the dressing room.

Chelsea thrashed the Toffees 6-0 at Stamford Bridge as Cole Palmer scored four goals, but all the discussion after the game centred around the argument over who should take a penalty.

Former Blue Fabregas watched the scenes unfold as Nicolas Jackson and Noni Madueke argued with each other before Palmer eventually got the ball and scored.

The former midfielder admitted he “hated” watching the drama unfold and compared it to a situation he experienced during Euro 2016 for Spain against Croatia, when Sergio Ramos took the ball off him and missed the spot kick.

“I had a similar experience at the European Championship in 2016 in Spain against Croatia,’ he said on the BBC’s Planet Premier League podcast.

“I was about to kick the penalty for 2-1 for us and there was someone coming from the back and said: ‘I want to take it’.

I said: ‘No, I’m the penalty taker’. I hate it when I see these kinds of things. I think it creates such a bad vibe. I just gave it up and I didn’t want to be a part of anything so ugly.

“We ended up missing it and then after that we ended up losing the game”, he added.

Mauricio Pochettino was fuming after the game but admitted the team had “moved on” ahead of the FA Cup semi final against Manchester City.

“I made it clear after the game. We had a meeting with all the players, staff and the sporting directors”, he said.

“I explained my feelings and delivered a clear message that I delivered in my media and press conference. We move on and I think they understood the situation.”

The Blues will be hoping to make their second cup final of the season this afternoon as they look to end a disappointing season on a high.
