Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has lauded Vinicius Junior for his impressive display in Tuesday’s 5-2 victory over Liverpool.

Vinicius scored two goals and set up another for regular partner-in-crime Karim Benzema as Madrid came from two goals down to secure a healthy first-leg advantage at Anfield.

The Brazilian has now directly contributed to eight goals in his last four matches across all competitions and his manager was full of praise for him at the sound of the full-time whistle in Merseyside.

“Right now, I think he is the most decisive player in the world,” Ancelotti told Sky Sport Italia (h/t Football Italia).

“Everything he does is a dribble away from a defender, an assist or a goal, and he does it for the full 90 minutes – he just never stops.”

Ancelotti also reflected on his side’s slow start to the game after they went two down inside 14 minutes and the 63-year-old believes there is still all to play for in the second leg despite Madrid taking a three-goal lead to Spain.

“It started terribly for us but fortunately, we did not lose our heads – we gradually took control of the game and sorted out the defensive issues,” he added.

“It’s certainly not over yet, we have done well in the first part of the tie, but the second is still to be played and anything can happen.”

While Madrid La Liga’s title defence has not gone as planned, Los Blancos have shown they are not ready to give up their European crown just yet.

Buoyed by last night’s thrilling win, Madrid now prepare for a tough run of matches which sees them face off against Atletico Madrid this weekend before they host Barcelona in the first leg of their Copa del Rey tie.
