Borusssia Dortmund boss Niko Kovac has revealed the future of Carney Chukwuemeka will be discussed at the end of the season.
Chukwuemeka joined Dortmund on loan in January after starting just one game over the first half of the season against Astana in the Conference League.
The 21-year-old for whatever reasons wasn’t part of Enzo Maresca’s plans and a temporary solution was found in January to get him playing.
Chukwuemeka has also had injury problems in Germany and has been limited to nine appearances in all competitions, starting just two of those games.
The midfielder scored his first Dortmund goal against Freiburg earlier this month, and the Bundesliga outfit have a €35m option to buy.

It’s been reported the option to buy is too expensive and Dortmund could consider a second loan deal, but Kovac has now confirmed the midfielder’s future will be discussed at the end of the season.
“We will have to discuss Carney after the season,” he said as cited on X.com.
“He is in a completely new situation; he hardly played at Chelsea. We are happy to have him. I personally like him a lot, and it depends on many factors.”
Kovac has previously described Chukwuemeka as “really unique” and it’s seems pretty clear he won’t play for Chelsea again.
The Blues would almost certainly prefer a permanent sale, and Chukwuemeka has a £40m release clause in his contract, but as things stand it would seem unlikely any clubs will activate that.

Chelsea will be hoping he finishes the season strongly to try and attract more suitors to the table and increase their chances of the clause being activated.
Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens is a player of interest to Chelsea and there’s a possibility the Blues could look to use Chukwuemeka as part of a potential deal for the winger.
