“I need to be fair” – Josko Gvardiol provides honest assessment on life at Manchester City | OneFootball

Manchester City’s summer signing Josko Gvardiol has offered a “fair” assessment of his start to life in the north-west of England, speaking during a recent conversation.

The Croatian defender has been widely regarded as one of the signings of the season in recent weeks, having seen his performances take a significant upturn with exemplary showing across all competitions, and now in the goalscoring department of late.

Whilst joining Manchester City as a traditional central defensive option, Pep Guardiola has been insistent on utilising the former Dinamo Zagreb and RB Leipzig man at left-back, largely competing for a place with Nathan Ake.

Despite some early struggles, that vision from the Manchester City manager has certainly paid off, with Gvardiol showcasing exactly what the Catalan coach saw in him from the second he walked through the City Football Academy doors.

Speaking during a recent conversation feature with Manchester City presenter ‘FG’, Josko Gvardiol admitted that he ‘already feels at home’ over at the Etihad Stadium, despite some unhappiness about the weather.

“I need to be fair and say that I already feel at home, and I really like it here, except the weather,” Gvardiol explained. “That’s the reality, but everything I think I need is here and I’m really happy.”

Many will often forget the youth of Gvardiol too, withe Croatian showcasing his outstanding abilities in a number of roles for Manchester City already this season, and now finding the back of the net on three occasions in the club’s last six matches.

Gvardiol continued, “The thing is I’m still young, I’m 22 and of course, there is a lot of space to build myself and to progress. If you have a look at John (Stones) or Kyle (Walker), they are like machines.”

Gvardiol and his Manchester City teammates are now entering a decisive phase of their season with just five matches remaining that will decide their trophy-fate, with the direction of the Premier League title firmly in their hands.
