With Liverpool exploring long-term options to reinforce their left-back position, Milos Kerkez has emerged as a serious candidate.
In another episode of transfer insight, we spoke to former Hungary international, Tamas Priskin, who played alongside Kerkez at Gyori ETO FC.
Tamas rated him highly by stating, “he is a great player- I love his attitude and work rate, and I was happy to help him.”
The former Hungary international shared the pitch 14 times with Kerkez and scored twice from the teenager’s assists. Kerkez, just hitting 16 during his time at Gyor, was already turning heads with his mature attitude and relentless engine.
‘HE’S ALWAYS READY TO LEARN’ – FORMER TEAMMATE SPEAKS ABOUT LIVERPOOL TARGET MILOS KERKEZ
“He was very, very humble even back then. He wasn’t playing just because of his potential; he was playing because he deserved it.”
Tamas then labelled him as “hardworking, constantly running up and down the pitch, and one of the most important players in our team.”
His performances earned him a move to AC Milan, where club legend Paulo Maldini was central in securing the deal. Remarkably, in his very first club media appearance in Italy, Kerkez credited Tamas for his support and mentorship- an acknowledgement that hasn’t gone unnoticed.
“Of course, it was really nice to hear. I’m very happy for him, and I like him because he has never forgotten where he came from.”
“Also, how you train is how you play, and he has the same attitude off the pitch – he brings a lot of energy every single game.”
Now a regular for Hungary’s national team and one of the Premier League’s standout fullbacks, Kerkez’s rise has been impressive.
“I’m very impressed with his progress. Now he is one of the best full-backs in the Premier League and I am happy.”
“He has a great mentality. He works hard from the first minute to the last – it’s essential.”
Tamas highlights not just his footballing qualities, but his personal values as well, claiming that he is an excellent footballer, but also “a great person outside the game”.
“It’s very exciting for me to see how he’s developing game by game and season by season. If the move happens, I can’t wait to see him play for one of the best clubs in the world.- especially because of its Hungarian connection.”
Should Kerkez join Liverpool, Tamas believes he can thrive under the mentorship of Andy Robertson, whom he sees as the ideal role model.
“He’s always ready to learn and listen. I think Robertson would be a great helper for him.”
With this deal progressing, the addition of a dynamic, high-upside fullback like Kerkez will be a strategic move for the future.
