I-League side Mohammedan SC have signed former Red Star Belgrade striker Abiola Dauda on Tuesday.
The 34-year-old striker will lead his new team for the upcoming season. Mohammedan missed out on the I-League crown by a narrow margin, losing the title to Gokulam Kerala FC.
Dauda has played over 400 games in his career, scoring more than 140 goals in European football. His strength is drawing out defenders out of their position, thus allowing himself and his teammates space to attack their opposition.
Moreover, he is great on both feet, that gives him an added advantage and unpredictability, something what Mohammedan desperately missed out on last season.
Meanwhile, Mohammedan SC found out their Durand Cup opponents as they were drawn in Group A alongside FC Goa, Jamshedpur FC, Bengaluru FC and Indian Air Force.
Mohammedan reached the final of the Durand Cup last season, losing out to eventual champions FC Goa.
