India women's team star, Dangmei Grace has opened up on her historic move to Uzbekistan, Nasaf Qarshi, revealing that everything will be "different and difficult" there and that she aspires to be a "good ambassador" for Indian football.
Grace recently created waves when I-League side, Gokulam Kerala FC confirmed that the forward has signed a professional contract with Uzbekistan-based FC Nasaf, with the 26-year-old becoming the sixth woman after Oinam Bembem Devi, Bala Devi, Dalima Chhibber, Aditi Chauhan and Manisha Kalyan to to sign a professional contract with an overseas outfit.
"I know everything will be different in Uzbekistan -- their playing style, the culture. I will need to adapt fast, make new friends. But I am extremely excited to bring on this new challenge and share my experiences," she said in an interview.
"It's a dream come true for me. It was not an overnight dream for me. In fact, playing abroad has been a dream for long. I used to daydream a lot about this day. It's an opportunity for me to show my skills, and be a good ambassador for Indian women's football," Grace added.
Grace started her international career in 2013 and since then has won numerous professional and individual honours, including being named the All India Football Federation (AIFF) Emerging Player of the Year in 2018/19.
