Montpellier HSC will take on OGC Nice as they look to end a poor run of form that has seen them pick up only nine points since the start of December. These are worrying times for a Montpellier side that enters this weekend in the bottom three for the first time since the 6th of February 2016.

The club have been defensively atrocious having kept only two clean sheets since returning from the winter break, and have the displeasure of being the only team in the league to have had three of its defenders score an own goal.

And despite the worries and fears that have crept into La Paillade, there remains a bright hope out on their right wing. Musa Al-Taamari (26) has had a promising season which saw him help Jordan to the AFC Asian Cup final where they narrowly lost to Qatar.

‘Sure I could leave. But not now.’ – Musa Al-Taamari

The winger will likely be called upon heavily by Montpellier as they attempt to steer clear from the lingering drop-down to Ligue 2. Despite this, time at La Paillade might be limited for Al-Taamari as his performances have not gone unnoticed.

Speaking to Midi Libre, Al-Taamari has already had offers this season, “Sure, I could leave. But not now. I have the time. I have to continue in Europe. I had offers from Qatar and Saudi Arabia, with a lot of money at stake.”

And yet, the winger was not interested, as he chose to stick with La Paillade at least until the end of the season, “I was told: ‘You’re crazy!’ I asked my agent just one thing: ‘Don’t call me if you don’t have a club that plays in the Champions League or the Europa League.”

However, it’s clear that this situation could change in the summer, and Al-Taamari is well aware that in the summer he will have choices, “I’m not preparing for it. When we finish the league, there will be two very important matches with Jordan. After mid-June, we’ll see.”
