Jurgen Klopp has responded to rumors linking him with the Germany job

In an interview with Liverpool Echo, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has opened up about the possibility of managing Germany in the future.

Current Germany head coach Joachim Low has been under pressure ever since the shocking 6-0 defeat to Spain last week in the UEFA Nations League. Jurgen Klopp has been constantly tipped as the man to replace Low if the latter were to be fired.

Joachim Low led Germany to the 2014 FIFA World Cup but oversaw the country’s worst-ever FIFA World Cup campaign when they exited in the group stages two years ago.

The humiliating loss to Spain also caused the Germans to miss out on the UEFA Nations League Finals next summer.

Speaking about the rumours of him being Low’s successor, Klopp admitted that it may be a possibility in the future.

“I thought this was the question I had answered most often in my life! In the future, maybe. Now, no. Because I have no time – I have a job. A pretty intense job, by the way.”

Klopp further went on to add that his focus is completely on Liverpool at the moment and that he has enough on his plate right now.

“I’m not sure if anybody has been asking about me in public, but if they don’t know, I have a job here, at Liverpool. Even when the weather is bad again, I like it. I’m responsible for a lot of things here. So I will not go and search for another challenge out there, I have enough challenges after waking up in the morning already. That’s enough!”

Klopp signed an extension with the club back in December 2019, which keeps him in Merseyside until 2024. If the German sees out his renewed contract with us, it will be the longest he has served as a manager at any single club.

With Klopp not denying the possibility of joining the German national team in the future, it is best that we cherish the few years he has with us without thinking too far into the future.

Klopp has been the most important cog in the Liverpool wheel that has won 4 trophies in the past one and a half years.

While the German has not given any indication towards extending his stay past 2024, let’s hope that he stays with us for as long as he possibly can.
