Alan Hutton has backed new Celtic signing Fraser Forster to be a “really dominant” figure following his return to Scottish football.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Russell Edge, the ex-Rangers defender explained why he is a big admirer of the “amazing” goalkeeper he knows well from their time south of the border.

Forster re-signed for Celtic on a season-long loan from Southampton in a blizzard of late-window transfer activity at Parkhead.

It is the giant England international’s second spell at Celtic after 197 matches for the club during Neil Lennon’s first spell in charge.

“A player that’s coming and knowing everything about the club – this is what I’m talking about,” Hutton told Football Insider. “He knows everything – he’s played in Old Firm games, he knows about European nights and stuff and what the fans are like.

“I expect him to really be dominant, to be honest with you. He was an amazing keeper for them in previous years, he’s went down South and obviously decided he needs more game time and come back up to somewhere he knows.

“I really expect him to do well.”

Forster has immediately been installed as the Hoops number one following his surprise return to the club he served so well in his first spell.

He has usurped Craig Gordon in the pecking order and started the last three SPL matches after former number one Scott Bain sustained a dislocated finger that will sideline him for months.
