Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville has recently been talking about Liverpool Football Club.

The Reds have had a pretty solid start to the 2021-22 Premier League campaign. After six matches, Liverpool sit in first-place on the table.

The Reds have scored 15 goals and conceded four. Despite that being the case, Neville believes that Liverpool “are just not right”.

Neville said the following on his podcast (17:00): “I made a statement two or three weeks ago, and enough Liverpool fans on social media have thrown it back at me in the last couple of weeks since they had a few good results.

“I don’t think Liverpool are just right. That means they are still excellent, one of the best four teams, three teams in Europe, but they are just not right. I have seen them achieve a standard that is out of the world.”

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

Liverpool have set high standards in recent times.

Between 2019-20, the Reds won the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup and Premier League title.

However, we don’t subscribe to this idea that Liverpool are not quite right. The Reds have shown in the early parts of the season that they will challenge for the league title this season.

Also, with the exception of midfielder Gini Wijnaldum, Liverpool have not lost any key players since claiming the 2020 league title.

But, only time will tell if Neville’s comments are accurate.
