Before the 2020-21 season got underway, Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Adama Traore was linked with a move to Liverpool.
However, Liverpool did not end up signing Traore. The Spaniard has had a poor 2020-21 campaign for Wolves.
Traore has only scored two goals and registered two assists in 34 appearances.
With that being the case, pundit Lee Hendrie can’t believe that Traore was being linked with a move to Liverpool before the current season got underway.
Hendrie told Sky Sports News (12:08pm, April 10, 2021): “This season I don’t know how he [Traore] was getting linked with Liverpool just for that what hasn’t he done this season. He hasn’t done enough.”
ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT
Traore is a decent player. There is a reason that he has a current market value of €35 million.
However, we are grateful that Liverpool did not end up signing Traore. The Spaniard’s output this season has not been good enough.
Therefore, it would be fair to assume that Liverpool won’t be linked with Traore this summer.
Liverpool did end up signing a forward in Diogo Jota last summer. The Portuguese international has scored 12 goals and registered one assist in 24 appearances this season.
The aforementioned figures highlight that Liverpool made the right decision by signing Jota ahead of Traore.
