Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has defended Reds forward Roberto Firmino.

The Brazilian started against Fulham at Craven Cottage last weekend. However, Firmino had very little impact on the game.

The 30-year-old was replaced by Darwin Nunez 51 minutes into the Premier League fixture.

Despite that being the case, Klopp has backed his No.9 during a recent press conference.

“(Firmino is) very important,” he told the Liverpool Echo.

“If we take now our last game against Fulham, we didn’t find Bobby properly because the centre (of the pitch) was very often blocked.

“That’s why it was difficult for him. Apart from that, I don’t judge Bobby after one game.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

We love that Klopp has got behind Firmino. The forward has been very good for Liverpool over the years.

He has also won six major trophies and the Community Shield with the Reds. Despite last weekend's performance, we don't believe that Firmino is finished at the top level.

The Brazilian averaged a WhoScored player rating of 6.85 across 20 Premier League appearances last season. Firmino is still a handy player to have around the squad.

But, we would not be shocked if this is his last season at Anfield. Firmino's contract expires next summer.

Then again, the club may offer the forward a new deal in the near future. We wish Firmino all the very best for the remainder of the campaign.
