"I don't expect" - Jurgen Klopp on winning the Premier League title | OneFootball

Jurgen Klopp has said that he doesn't expect Manchester City to drop points against Aston Villa in their final Premier League game of the season.

Speaking in his pre-Southampton press conference, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, Klopp said that he can't remember the last time Manchester City dropped points twice in the space of a week.

"I don't know when the last time they dropped points twice in a week historically," said Klopp. "I don't expect City to drop points but in an ideal world, we go into Sunday one point behind."

Klopp also spoke about the final day of the 2018/19 season when Pep Guardiola's side went 1-0 down against Brighton and Hove Albion, eventually winning 4-1 and claiming the title ahead of Liverpool.

"When they played Brighton right? Brighton went 1-0 up? I could hear it in the stadium, they probably scored. I knew in that moment it was too early. If I had heard it in the 90th minute, I'd have probably celebrated," Klopp said.

"All I felt was pride after the game. The way the boys performed and produced consistent performances. I knew in that moment we would get another chance."

I really don't want to feel the heartbreak of the 2018/19 season again. When Brighton went 1-0 up, it felt like we were so close to claiming our first Premier League title. However, we know how that game ended.

Pep Guardiola won't let his side drop points against Aston Villa on the final day. Steven Gerrard has his team well-drilled, but they have so many weaknesses that City can exploit. I just don't see anything other than a win for Manchester City.

If only West Ham United held on to their 2-0 advantage over the Citizens last weekend, the title race would be somewhat in our own hands (on goal difference).

Saying that, if Guardiola's side won on Sunday, then Villa would have had to beat them on the final day. Now, they just need to draw and the Reds need to beat Southampton and Wolves to reclaim the Premier League title from Manchester City.

It's not impossible that Liverpool win the league but it's heartbreaking to think that there will be a Premier League trophy at Anfield on the final day, even if we don't win the title.

However, if anyone can defy the odds it's Klopp's 'mentality monsters'.
