FLW’s Derby County fan pundit Liam Allwood has raised concerns about Everton recalling on-loan attacker Lewis Dobbin in January.

The 19-year-old joined the League One club on a season-long loan back in August and has been a regular fixture under both Liam Rosenior and Paul Warne.

Dobbin has scored twice and provided four assists in 26 appearances for the Rams while the energy and pace he’s added have been invaluable at times.

Everton are believed to have the option of recalling the teenager in the January transfer window and Allwood is concerned that they may do so to add a bit more dynamism to Frank Lampard’s squad.

On the subject of January plans, he said: “I would definitely recommend trying to keep all of our loan players although that’s mainly up to the parent club.

“I do worry we might lose Lewis Dobbin back to Everton in January due to how thin their squad is and how their players aren’t performing at their best. They could probably do with a player like Dobbin to go back and try and add a bit more pace into the team.”

Attwood wants to see Warne look to keep the current squad together until at least the summer and has urged the Rams to avoid offloading anyone next month.

“I wouldn’t say we should let go of anyone just yet,” he said. “I think we should wait until the summer.

“With the January window being so short and the number of players we have in our squad, we’re probably best off holding off selling anyone no matter how poor they’ve played.”
