Cole Palmer has rightly been praised from far and wide for his performances and England legend Paul Gascoigne has now had his say on the Chelsea man.

Palmer has picked up where he left off last season and already has six goals and five assists in the first seven Premier League games.

The 22-year-old wasn’t at his brilliant best for England during the international break, with one outlet giving him a two out of ten rating for his performance against Finland last Sunday.

Gascoigne has his say on Palmer

Whilst he may mot have been at his best for the Three Lions Palmer has hardly put a foot wrong since joining the Blues from Manchester City in the summer of 2023.

The England international was named Premier League Young Player of the Year in his debut season at the club as he scored 22 goals and provided 11 assists.

Palmer was also recently named England Player of the Year and right now is arguably the best player in the Premier League and one of the best in the world.

Gascoigne, who is one of England’s greatest players has had his say on Palmer and admitted he couldn’t believe how good he was.

“Yeah. God, I didn’t realise how good he was!, he told Football365.

“It’s only the last couple of games I’ve watched him on Match of the Day, he’s been unbelievable. He’s hungry, he scored four [against Brighton], he wants to do well and he’s with a good team, he’s sharp.”

The question facing Palmer heading into this season was whether he could repeat or even better his feats of last season and if his start to the campaign is anything to go by you wouldn’t bet against him.

Palmer will find himself back in his preferred central position on Sunday against Liverpool, where Micah Richards believes he should play for England and the Blues will be hoping he can make an impact in their biggest game of the season to date.
