Manchester City’s incoming Netherlands international midfielder Tijjani Reijnders has spoken out about his completed medical at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

The Dutch midfielder is expected to become one of three new arrivals at Manchester City in time for the FIFA Club World Cup, alongside Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Rayan Ait-Nouri and Lyon’s Rayan Cherki.

A deal for the latter is believed to be the most complex to agree upon with differences between the two clubs over valuations on the 21-year-old playmaker, while the Algerian left-back is believed to have already completed the various processes to become a City player.

Undertaking a medical over the course of the weekend, Ait-Nouri has also put pen to paper on the documentation to complete his switch from Birmingham to Manchester, in a busy weekend for the club that also saw Tijjani Reijnders break away from national team duties.

The 26-year-old left the Netherlands camp in Helsinki on Sunday morning following the nation’s FIFA World Cup qualifier against Finland, before re-joining the camp to prepare for the midweek clash against Malta.

Speaking to reporters over the course of the weekend, Tijjani Reijnders has admitted his excitement at his Manchester City medical, undergoing the process between international commitments at the weekend.

“I couldn’t wait any longer,” Reijnders said, as relayed by Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport. “The intention is to participate in the Club World Cup with (Manchester) City.”

The 26-year-old added, “I’m thrilled about it. This way I get to know my teammates straight away.

“I will be back in Zeist on Sunday evening. Then I will prepare for Tuesday’s game (with the Netherlands) against Malta.”

Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Ait-Nouri are expected to link-up with their Manchester City teammates for the first time later this week, as they prepare to advance with the club over to the United States ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup.

Club officials will be hoping that the duo will ultimately be joined by Rayan Cherki, with work still to be done ahead of Tuesday evening’s transfer deadline in the initial mini-summer market created for the sole purpose of allowing business before the Club World Cup.

Manchester City are currently looking ahead to three group stages matches in the United States where they will take on Morocco’s Wydad AC, the United Arab Emirates’ Al Ain, and Italy’s Juventus.
