Jurgen Klopp has said that he is able to speak his mind now that he has announced his exit at the end of the season, as he discussed the controversial penalty incident at the end 0f Liverpool's draw with Manchester City.

A pulsating game at Anfield finished 1-1 on Sunday afternoon, as both Liverpool and City missed out on chances to end the weekend top of the Premier League table.

However, after a stunning second-half comeback, the Reds felt aggrieved not to have been awarded a second penalty deep into stoppage time when Jeremy Doku's high boot caught Alexis Mac Allister in the chest.

Referee Michael Oliver deemed the incident no foul, while VAR did not advise the on-pitch official to go to the monitor for a second look.

The decision left many fans, players and pundits incredulous, with Mac Allister calling it a 'clear penalty'.

Klopp too was adamant on the decision, describing it as obvious for all football people immediately after the final whistle.

'What must you have for lunch?'

The manager stood by his comments in the post-match press conference, but insisted he is not angry about the incident.

He told reporters: "I couldn't care less what people think. That's, at least, a good thing about leaving at the end of the season!

"If I mention it [the decision] today, people say 'yeah, but there were other situations... There was this and that'. Yeah, it's true. But just imagine they would be all right. Just imagine the crazy situation where we have VAR and they all made the right decision!

"Why would the guy in the studio think 'that's not clear and obvious'. What must you have for lunch if you think that's not clear and obvious?

"But really I'm not angry. It's just the situation. It's fine."

The result leaves Liverpool in second place, behind Arsenal only on goal difference with ten games left to play in the Premier League.

The Reds take on Sparta Prague and Manchester United in the Europa League and FA Cup this week and only return to league action at home to Brighton on 31 March.
