Despite losing four goals and conceding a penalty ( a ridiculous decision) that was missed in the strangest of moments, Auston Trusty can be pleased with his own performance and may even enjoy reading Sandman’s Definitive Ratings where he edged out Adam Idah to be awarded the Man of the Match.

And as Sandman often says that is DEFINITIVE

Here’s what Auston Trusty had to say in the media room after the Champions League match at Villa Park…

Q: Can you sum that game up for us?

Auston Trusty: “To go down 2-0 early on in the game, that’s not what we wanted. But for us to battle back and tie the game up, going into the second half, that shows the true testament of the team. A lot of teams can, at this level, you can kind of buckle, but it shows the true backbobne of the team to bounce back and really give it a go.”

Q: How did you ensure you didn’t buckle?

Auston Trusty: “Just mentality and mindset. This team has had lows before, this team has had highs before, so when you have lows, you show and also you see how teams react and how your teammates react, but we all have each other’s back. We’re not always going to lead every single game.”

Q: Albeit you didn’t get the win tonight, how much confidence do you take from large spells in that game where you did kind of match what are really strong opponents?

Auston Trusty: “Yeah, obviously the result didn’t go our way, but I think we maintained confidence. Football is football and sometimes it doesn’t go your way, but we can take positives from this game and take negatives from this game, but try to look on the bright side of things. We’ve got more games to come, so we can all look forward.”

Q: What about that next playoff then? What are you thinking now you know it’s Bayern Munich or Real Madrid?

Auston Trusty: “I mean, whatever happens, I can’t control it. Whoever we get, we just have to approach it our way, approach it the Celtic way and maintain confidence and go out there and give it a go to win the game.”

Q: You must have no fear considering what you’ve learned over the last eight games and how much you’ve grown?

Auston Trusty: “I back ourselves no matter what. I back us against any team and if we play our game and do our thing and we collectively and individually do our jobs, I back us against anybody.”

Q: Do you have a preference?

Auston Trusty: “No, I can’t control it, so I just go with it.”

Q: What was it like being back in Birmingham?

Auston Trusty: “Actually, really good. Just the Birmingham air, it feels good. This was my first stop when I came to the UK, so it really does feel good to come back and be in the city and experience the city. I missed it.”

Q: What about Adam Idah? Obviously, stepping up for the two goals, two brilliant goals as well, two great finishes. Is that just what he needed to kick on, do you think, obviously with Kyogo going as well?

Auston Trusty: “Yes, I’m pleased for him to get two goals, I hope he builds confidence and gets some momentum for him and keeps going.”
