Queens Park Rangers made a few signings during the January transfer window, but it was their failure to move one player on that surprised Football League World's Rs fan pundit the most.

Rangers signed a couple of players from high-profile Premier League clubs in January, with Harvey Vale joining from Chelsea and Min-hyeok Yang signing on loan from Tottenham Hotspur, while Esquerdinha arrived at Loftus Road from Fluminese and Ronnie Edwards was brought in on loan from Southampton.

However, it was the fact that one player was unable to seal a loan move away from the club in January that may be the most surprising thing for QPR supporters following the conclusion of the transfer window.

QPR fan pundit shocked by Dixon-Bonner situation

We asked our QPR fan pundit, Louis Moir, if there was a player in the squad that he was surprised didn't leave during the January transfer window.

"I am totally baffled as to how Elijah Dixon-Bonner is still at the club," said Louis.

"I don't understand how he has not gone out on loan, whether that be to League One or potentially even League Two.

"I mean, does that just show how poor he is? Not many clubs seem to have wanted him or even taken an interest in him.

"I just think it is really surprising that he hasn't even managed to get a loan deal because he was never going to make any appearances for us this season, not even coming off the bench.

"He probably won't even be on the bench for most games.

"It is a shame for his own career, because there seemed to be a fair bit of potential when he signed a new contract, but I have never seen it with him, especially not at this level.

"He is just not good enough at all.

"He must be thinking to himself, wondering how he has not managed to get a loan, because he is not going to play any football, and unfortunately, I can just see him being released at the end of this season.

"He could be one of those players where it might take longer to get a club. I mean look at the likes of Osman Kakay, somehow he still hasn't got a club since we got rid of him, so yeah, it can happen to these players.

"I'd say I am shocked that Dixon-Bonner hasn't gone out on loan."

Dixon-Bonner has struggled to make an impact at Loftus Road

Elijah Dixon-Bonner signed for QPR on a free transfer in 2022, having spent time in the academies of Arsenal and Liverpool during his youth career.

In fact, he had played for Liverpool at senior level in both the EFL Cup and the FA Cup, so there was some optimism that he could turn out to be a shrewd acquisition for Rangers.

The club clearly still had faith in him last summer, as he was handed a contract extension, but now, after making just three substitute appearances in the Championship so far this season, it seems as though his time in West London could be running out.

It is a shame that the midfielder was unable to secure a loan move in January, as he needs another opportunity to show what he is capable of, because at present, it looks like the 24-year-old's playing time under Marti Cifuentes will be limited during the remainder of the campaign.
