Ally Robertson has offered his verdict on the signing of Tom Rogic by West Brom.

The Australian arrived earlier this month as a free agent having departed Celtic at the end of last season.

The midfielder spent nine years with the Scottish giants, playing a key role in six league title wins during that time.

While the former Baggies veteran did jokingly express his dismay at signing a Celtic player due to his allegiance with Rangers, he does believe that the 29-year old could be a strong addition to Steve Bruce’s side.

He is hopeful that Rogic can repeat his form that saw him become a crucial player at Park Head over the last several years, claiming that the Celtic faithful would’ve still gladly seen him stay with the club.

“New signing Tom Rogic spent so long at Celtic and could be ready to make a first appearance,” wrote Robertson, via Express & Star.

“I am not so happy because I’m Rangers! But he’s come from Scottish football and can show what he can do.

“So many people have said what a great time he’s had and done well, hopefully he can do similar here.

“They loved him up there, they thought he was great and actually would’ve had him back!”

It has been a difficult start to the season for Albion, who go into this weekend sitting 21st in the Championship table.

Rogic has yet to make an appearance for Bruce’s side since coming to an agreement to sign with the club.

This weekend’s clash against Swansea City represents an opportunity for him to make his debut at the Hawthorns.

The Verdict

Rogic looks to be a really solid signing for West Brom and should offer another creative dynamic to a strong attacking lineup.

His debut should surely now come against Swansea, where the Baggies supporters will get a good firsthand look at the team’s latest signing.

His experience as a league winner also should see him become a strong figurehead inside the dressing room, which the squad could really do with given their poor form.

This is a team that needs to start turning dominant performances into wins, otherwise Bruce’s position as manager will be under even more serious threat.
