Thiago Silva reassures Chelsea fans amidst a shocking run of form

Veteran defender Thiago Silva has proven to be an excellent acquisition for Chelsea so far.

The Brazilian signed for a free has settled in well and outperformed those who were brought in for massive fees. One of the best defenders of his time, Silva continues to showcase his abilities at the age of 36.

There are, however, limitations to even what he can do. The Blues are currently going through a rough patch of form that has seen them fall from first to eighth.

Having won just two of the last eight Premier League games, Chelsea find themselves falling further down the table. There is real pressure on manager Frank Lampard to turn things around. His job might very well depend on that.

Despite the troubles, Silva remains optimistic that the club will achieve it’s season objectives. He conveyed the same message to fans through a post made on Instagram.

Silva went on to add in the message that the path to the top is never going to be easy. He believes a lot of effort needs to be put in by the players and assured fans they will not give up.

The Blues next face Luton Town in the FA Cup. Anything less than a win against the Championship minnows will amp up the pressure on Lampard.

While Silva’s words are encouraging, it will count for nothing unless it is backed up on the field. It promises to be a testing time for Blues stars in the weeks to come.

Despite our poor form, there is still much to play for this season. Given how close the teams are, a good run of results could be all we need to change our fortunes. Hopefully, we can do just that starting this weekend against Luton.
