Ahead of their match against Borussia Mönchengladbach on Saturday, veteran Thomas Müller admitted Bayern Munich are focused on winning the Bundesliga title early.
After two weeks off, Müller told club media the squad is “hungry again” and are fully prepared for the title decider against their opponents.
“We want to make the championship clear as quickly as possible,” said Müller. “That is a big goal and we are very optimistic.”
“We already had a lot of fun in the first week of training, and we did a good job. That’s why we’re focused on the game,” he said.
“In recent years we have never had an easy time against Gladbach. There were always close games, and sometimes a defeat. Accordingly, we know what to expect.”
If Bayern win on Saturday, Müller, along with team-mate David Alaba, would each have a record 10 league titles to their name.
Yet, the forward noted Bayern’s dominance in recent years couldn’t have been achieved without the dedication from each member of the squad every season.
“It’s a bit crazy that we manage every year to tap this potential that is in the squad throughout the season. You are grateful to your fellow players.”
Alongside Bayern, RB Leipzig are also eyeing the title and currently sit seven points behind the league leaders.
