Hungary fans' clash with police during England game captured in video | OneFootball

The opening stages of England's 2022 World Cup qualifier versus Hungary on Tuesday evening was marred by crowd trouble.

Around 800 away fans were said to be in attendance at Wembley Stadium and in the first few minutes of the match, a number of them clashed with police and stewards.

Journalist Barney Ronay tweeted as the ugly incident unfolded: "The police have been chased out of the Hungary end. Not enough of them and not ready for it."

Fortunately, the trouble appeared to subside a tad as the first half progressed, although Ronay did worryingly add on the social media platform: "There is now no policing in the Hungary end. And just a line of seats between away fans and England seats."

The Hungarian fans who were involved should be ashamed of themselves and footage of the clash shows just how chaotic things got in the stands at Wembley as the action continued on the pitch.

That's not what you want to see at a football match.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed on Twitter at half-time that they entered the stand containing Hungary fans "to arrest a spectator for a racially aggravated public order offence following comments made towards a steward".

But while some of their fans acted in a disgraceful manner, Hungary were pretty classy on the pitch in the first half versus England.

The visiting side took a well-deserved lead midway through the opening period of the game courtesy of a penalty from Rolland Sallai.

Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw was the man who gave away the spot kick after the referee correctly declared that he was guilty of a high boot in the area.

England did level the scores at 1-1 in the 37th-minute, though.

Manchester City's John Stones equalised for the Three Lions from close-range after Phil Foden whipped a dangerous ball into the box from a free-kick.
